Four more days until this is mine! At least I hope so; I've ordered it from Michael Whelan so I could get the print of the alternate cover art[/geek]. Does that mean that I get it on the 21st or that it's mailed on the 21st? Hmm.

Geh. It's feast or famine bookwise. A few days ago I was completely puzzled as to what book to read next. By the time I'm done with DT7 I'll also have this and this to read, as well as all the lovely recs I got from you guys.

I'm bittersweet about finishing the DT series. I've been reading it since the late eighties, so I'm well acquainted with waiting for three years or so between books (we HP fen have it easy, comparatively). *sigh* It's going to be sad to say goodbye to the characters I've known for more than a decade. This is the story that really pulled me into dark fantasy and made me realise that fantasy isn't all fairies and sword-and-sorcery and dryads-in-the-wood.

I'd never have read His Dark Materials or The Talisman or American Gods or The Lathe of Heaven if I'd never picked up The Gunslinger. Fantasy/SF fans should read this series. Don't let it get past you because you Don't Read King. It's not what you think.

Okay, I'm still sleepy, I think I'll go back to bed now. Either that or get coffee. Work at 3 and all.

ETA: Coffee wins! But only 'cause I've gotta go pay a bill anyway.

I think your computer's clock is off. Not that that is a big deal, but it's disconcerting to see something supposedly posted last night at 7 pm discussing how you're either going to go back to bed or go get coffee. :D

I'm both looking forward and dreading DT7. I can't wait to find out how it's going to end, but at the same time I will miss this series and these characters so much. I think it's a lot easier to read a series all at once (His Dark Materials) than having to wait (DT, Harry Potter).. because there's less time to realize this is it when you get to that last book.. that last chapter.. that last page. :

Worldcon, at his table in the dealer room.

It's probably at his website, as well, though.
