Does this sound familiar to anyone? :/ It would to people my mother's age who remember the Japanese containment camps.

As I had expected...

I downloaded the full survey. What I found was that the questions weren't questions at all. There were statements that the participants were asked to agree or disagree with. The statements were:

All Muslim Americans should be required to register their whereabouts with the federal government.

Mosques should be closely monitored and surveilled by US law enforcement agencies.

US government agencies should profile citizens as potential threats based on being Muslim or having Middle Eastern heritage.

Muslim civic and volunteer organizations should be infiltrated by undercover law enforcement agents to keep watch on their activities & fundraising.

Now. As per table seven in the survey, *48%* of the respondents agreed with NONE of the statements. Fifteen percent agreed with one and twenty nine agreed with two or more. The margin of error of the survey is +/- 3.6 percent. So as I suspected, a VAST majority aren't buying into these statements and the article presented this survey as complete spin.

Well, I'm not surprised that the spin doctors are doing their work. But. I've found that where there's spin, there's often fire, to mix metaphors awfully.

The fact that fifteen or twenty-nine percent agreed with any of these makes me want to gag. I wonder if the numbers wouldn't have been similar during WW2.

Oh, and! Your presents arrived. *hugs* You are so thoughtful! You'll be getting mine a bit late as money is tighter than anything while we're moving.

Where there's spin, there's an agenda. That's why I take everything I read and hear in the news with a grain of salt. Both sides have an agenda and both sides spin. The truth is usually in the middle. And yeah, it kinda turns my stomach too that 15% & 29% agree with one or two of them too. But under the current circumstances the world finds itself in, it's predictable and even understandable.

As for the prezzies, I'm glad they got there. I was beginning to wonder. :) Enjoy and Merry Christmas. :)
