Breathe in firemen and rubble,
breathe out whole buildings and flocks of red wing blackbirds.
Breathe in terrorists
and breathe out sleeping children and freshly mown fields.
Breathe in confusion and breathe out maple trees.
Breathe in the fallen and breathe out lifelong friendships intact.
Wage peace with your listening: hearing sirens, pray loud.
Remember your tools: flower seeds, clothes pins, clean rivers.
Make soup.
Play music, learn the word for thank you in three languages.
Learn to knit, and make a hat.
Think of chaos as dancing raspberries,
imagine grief
as the outbreath of beauty or the gesture of fish.
Swim for the other side.
Wage peace.
Never has the world seemed so fresh and precious:
Have a cup of tea and rejoice.
Act as if armistice has already arrived.
Don't wait another minute.
Celebrate today.

Dear B101,
When you do a feature song block, please do your research more thoroughly.
Twice today you did a three-song feature in honour of the release of Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy. The songs played were "Someone Saved My Life Tonight", "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds", and "Philadelphia Freedom".
What's wrong with this picture? Well. "Someone Saved My Life Tonight" is the only one of these three songs that was actually on the original album. The other two were singles that were added to the remastered CD, which wasn't released until 1996. They have nothing to do with the original album, which means they have nothing to do with the anniversary of its release.
I can understand someone who never heard the original thinking that these songs are part of the album (although, since this is a concept album clearly about Elton and Bernie's early days, wouldn't you think a Beatles cover would seem noticeably different from the flow of the original autibiographical material?), but as a radio station, you should know better. Why not feature the title track, or "Tower of Babel"? Or maybe feature the last three songs, "Writing", "We All Fall in Love Sometimes", and "Curtains", which are as much one single unit as the Beatles' "Golden Slumbers", "Carry That Weight" and "The End" are on their Abbey Road.
I basically like your music (although dudes. Lynyrd Skynyrd recorded more than three songs, and so did Elton John. Oh, and Paul Simon? Is more than "Kodachrome" and "Fifty Ways to Leave Your Lover"). But really. If you're celebrating an anniversary such as this one, do your legwork and actually feature tracks from the album as it was released.

This rant was brought to you by my bad attitude about the last three tracks tacked on to a perfect and complete work in the first place. Imagine someone adding random works by DaVinci/Shakespeare to the Mona Lisa or Romeo and Juliet years later.
