When I get a message that says I'm "not allowed to comment in this person's journal", does that mean I've been banned?

I've never been banned from a LJ in my life. I don't even know the person very well, and I can't imagine what I've done to warrant a banning (except maybe be a McCartney fan, which I cannot help). I can't even comment to say "If I've said something to offend you, let me know so I can make things right", because, well. I can't comment on the LJ.

I guess I shouldn't feel bad about this, but I do.

I can't think of anything else that would keep me from commenting like that.

I'm basically a nice person, and aside from the occasional rant, I try really really hard not to offend anyone.

You are absolutely and fundamentally a MUCH MORE than nice person...I cannot imagine you deliberately offending anyone on any score, and anyone who doesn't have the courtesy to clarify or ask for clarification is horrid.

Well, maybe not horrid, but clarification could erm. Clear up a misunderstanding better than shutting the virtual door in someone's face.
