When I get a message that says I'm "not allowed to comment in this person's journal", does that mean I've been banned?

I've never been banned from a LJ in my life. I don't even know the person very well, and I can't imagine what I've done to warrant a banning (except maybe be a McCartney fan, which I cannot help). I can't even comment to say "If I've said something to offend you, let me know so I can make things right", because, well. I can't comment on the LJ.

I guess I shouldn't feel bad about this, but I do.

I dunno. I had a disagreement with her (I think it's a her) on another LJ about something totally impersonal, but I can't imagine it's worth a banning to disagree with someone. It's not like I had a temper tantrum or anything.

I'm basically a nice person, and aside from the occasional rant, I try really really hard not to offend anyone.

You are absolutely and fundamentally a MUCH MORE than nice person...I cannot imagine you deliberately offending anyone on any score, and anyone who doesn't have the courtesy to clarify or ask for clarification is horrid.

Well, I did comment on the last comment from the conversation I mentioned before. I hope it's just a friends-only thing. Like I said, I'm weirdly upset about this. Because I'm so harmless it's actually sad. :/

Some people set their journals so that only friends can comment. That's what I do for my RPG journals so that trolls don't come around.

you know what ticks me off?

when someone bans me from their lj but still feels it's okay to come comment on mine, just because i am not petty enough to return the favor.

I've been banned from, I think, 3 people's journals, and 1 of those 3 is banned from mine. She is the most likely the only person I will ever ban on my lj. (Though I did ban a sockpuppet lj community that was designed to insult one of my friends once--i had to in order to keep it from showing up on my friends-of list.)
