Yes, I've been ignoring LJ. I'm sick, I'm tired, I'm a little depressed, and I had to pay a hundred bucks for new locks on my car, and this time I can't even blame ADD. My keys literally fell out of my coat pocket and into neverland. Unfortunately, the keys to the flat and the keys to work were on the ring, so bleh.

I have to work tomorrow, and I hab a code.

Oh, in other, better news, while I was hanging out not reading LJ all this time, the Marauders ate my brain. Two of them, leastwise. I've read more R/S fic than I ever have.

So. Make Primrose feel better. Rec me the best, the complete best Remus/Sirius fic you've ever read, in liek, all time. Extra points if it's novel-length and/or not sad. Especially not sad. Really, extra exra points if it's novel-length. Long!Fics R SO Cool.

Oh, and I do plan to give everyone songs who asked. I'm just slow and lazy right now.

P.S. Current music is SO R/S, no?

It's not a story...

...but I can recommend a good movie when you're feeling up to it. See "Jarhead". I knew a *lot* of guys that were in the first Gulf War (hey, I married one). Most were in the Army, and while those in the movie were obviously Marines, their experiences were much the same. Months of mind boggling boredom punctuated by a few moments of action and abject terror (remember scuds, anyone?). After seeing the movie, I went home and read through some of the letters I received from the guys (to my hubby's dismay, I saved them all. Felt I owed it to them in a weird way). Describing a typical day, one said, "It sucks. Your (sic) bored 16 hours out of the day and then you sleep for 8." Another guy said, "I will say this: I can't wait to get home and have someone say they live "in the middle of nowhere". I'll look at them and say "Bullshit! I've been there and I didn't see you anywhere." That guy goes on to say that it had been ten days since he'd had a shower and the only way to wash daily was using "Wet Ones".

Anyway, a great movie. Non political, thank God. Just shows it from the grunt's point of view.

I've heard this was good. Violent, though. I sort of wanted to read the book first, but I probably won't get to.

Nah, it's not overly violent. In fact, there is hardly *any* violence, given the fact that most of these guys (and gals) just sat around for months doing nothing. The most gruesome bit was as they walked down the "highway of death" (the highway between Kuwait & Iraq that we bombed as the Iraqi army was skeedadling out of Kuwait). Otherwise, there are LOTS of references (overt and otherwise) to masturbation, which I'd rather have than violence, given the choice.
