Gacked from

Dinner party!
8 live people:
(In no particular order)
1. Stephen King, because he's cool, talented, geeky and is a homebirth fan.
2. Ina May Gaskin, because she'sGod one of my living heroes, and knows more than I'll ever learn about midwifery.
3. The Dalai Lama, goes without saying. The most holy person alive, IMO.
4. Jimmy Carter. Because he's Jimmy Carter. :)
5. Cindy Sheehan, because I want to tell her how much I honour her for trying to transform her tragedy into hope.
6. Sinead O'Connor, because I think she'd just be so very interesting to talk to.
7. Sir Elton John, with Bernie Taupin along as well, because in my they're a unit. My LJ, so there. ;)
8. Sir Paul McCartney. Because he's t00by and talented and d00d. He was a Beatle.
8 Zombies
1. Jesus of Nazareth. I'm sure he has more to say than what was written in red.
2. Mother Theresa. I think I'd feel better just being in the room with her. I wish I could be half the person she was. She really is one of my role models, and I'm not even Catholic.
3. Helen Keller. Probably my very first hero, from a very young age. She can tell me all about her work with the Wobblies and protesting WWI.
4. Rosa Parks, the woman who started an avalanche. *adores*
5. Margaret Charles Smith, one of, if not the very last Granny Midwives.
6. Woody Guthrie, and his guitar. And lots of Dust Bowl stories. I think he'd get on well with Ms. Keller.
7. Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Goes without saying.
8. John Lennon. Also with guitar.
9. Dr. Perry, who attended the birth of my mother and is indirectly responsible for my being here. I'd love to talk to a country doctor about doctoring in the early 20th century.
10. Kurt Cobain. Articulate and outspoken, he'd be a great addition to the conversations. Besides, Jesus would be happy, and with the two of them plus John, the band could give an after-dinner concert.

Date: 2006-03-25 02:57 pm (UTC)U2 (as an entity. Because I heart everything about them. I mean, I have a sketched portrat of them framed and hanging in my living room)
John McCain (Rock the vote, Johnny!)
Mrs Burnside (my 11th grade American Lit teacher, the woman who fanned the flames of my book-and-writinglove)
A single soldier currently on active duty (as a representative for all so I can serve *them* for a change)
Lewis Black (my favorite comedian)
Ed Whitacre (CEO of AT&T. So I can pelt him with mashed potatoes)
And for those no longer living, I'm stealing #1, of course. As for the others (and not inclucing family members that have passed because, obviously, they trump everyone else):
Julius Caesar, Alexander the Great, William the Conqueror, George Washington, and Napolean as a unit (All these military geniuses would provide great research for my book, although William is iffy. I think he got lucky)
Abraham Lincoln, Robert Kennedy, Michael Collins (Irish hero or villian, depending on your POV), Freddie Mercury, J R R Tolkein, William Shakespeare
And might I add to your dinner party? Fictional characters anyone?
Alex Krycek (X Files)
Fox Mulder (X Files)
Zaphod Beeblebrox (Hitchhiker's Trilogy)
King Arthur and Lancelot DuLac (As a unit. If they really are fictional)
Odysseus (The Iliad, The Oddesey)
Aragorn (Lord of the Rings)
Captain Kirk (Star Trek)
Anakin Skywalker (Star Wars)
