Key Republican joins Dems opposing Bolton Nomination.

"This is probably not what President Bush had in mind when he stressed bipartisanship after the Democratic Party's midterm elections sweep.

A key Senate Republican has joined Democrats in opposing one of Bush's initiatives for the lame-duck Congress: John Bolton's nomination as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations."

Kick ass, Mr. Senator. *celebrates* And wow, I actually feel like a Rhode Islander today. And damn proud to be one.

Of course I'm a geeky Rhode Islander, so I'm obligated to point out that we also made the BBC and the CBC, and probably a lot of other places on the planet.

I don't whether this Bolton is a good guy or not; but if Chafee opposes Bush he has my blessings. Yes, I'm easy.

No, I agree with patchfire: I would *love* to trade Chafee for Corker. For Lieberman, too, but moreso before the election. Lieberman will caucus with the Dems, says he (as much as he ever did). I am hearing rumblings of Chafee (finally?!) changing parties...and to Democrat, rather than Independent, which is what I would have expected. They are rumors, though. I also love Senator Chafee. I hope he runs and wins again as a Dem or an Independent.

My gut says he's going to go Independent, but I won't complain if he ends up a Democrat. It was an asset, actually, to have him in the Senate as a Republican, because he voted his conscience and filled a seat that might have been filled by a neocon (although I'm not sure what neocons are actually realistic contenders from such a blue state as RI).

I hope Lieberman ends up a help instead of a hindrance. I'll have to wait and see, I guess.

Bob Corker: He Goes Both Ways! And Blames Canada!

Seriously, beyond all the other reasons any left-thinking person wouldn't want him in there, he completely changed traffic patterns in downtown Chattanooga, simulataneously screwing the poor people and lining his own pocket. I can't forgive him any time I go back to Chattanowhere and there are people driving south on McCallie and north on Bailey... (hence the "goes both ways!")

There are worse things than Lieberman, for sure. Heck, how about one of my senators? There wasn't an senatorial election in my state this year, but I could easily be persuaded to get rid of Isakson or Chambliss. *gags*

It will be interesting to see where Chafee pops up again. :)
