I know I've missed a lot of posts this week. RL has been pretty busy, and on top of that, I'm not getting my message notifications. I'm not sure what's wrong. When I click the little thumbtack it takes me to the right page, but when I try to save so that I'll be notified, the page never loads. I've reported it to LJ, but they don't seem to have a clue. If anyone else has this problem or knows how to fix it, I'd love to hear about it.

Also, I'm working the night shift. Entertain me? 'Cause after I get all the paperwork done, it gets mighty boring. I won't prompt or suggest. I'll take whatever anyone wants to throw my way.

ETA: Unfortunately, I can't watch youTube at work, so all youTube stuff will be saved for when I get home. I can't watch any vids, really, because I don't have speakers. My home unit has them, but not this one. *sigh*

Am home now. Send all the YouTube your little hearts desire. *goes off to Watch Things and then go to bed*

You could let me log in as you? And fix it that way? ;)

Life is sad and boring. Okay, not really, just sad and calm-before-the-storm-ish. I cannot entertain you via writing because I have the worst case of writer's block EVER. I can't write fiction. I can't write non-fiction. It's AWFUL.

You can sign on as me and fix it, that would be incredible and glorious and all that. Of course, you're in bed now and I'm not, so you'll have to do it whenever you're not in bed and stuff.

But yay! I'll be able to track my messages again! Hopefully.

Don't know if you can watch youtube at work, but here is the most recent vid I watched. Alpha Male, dead ahead!

Also, I've discovered a hysterical online comic! (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0001.html)

Alice and Alec, I cannot watch youTube at work. I used to be able to, but they've recently blocked it. :/

Yay for new comic! Do I have to read it from the beginning to understand it? I don't mind, or anything.

Yeah, you should read from the beginning to get the most out of it, but the link I sent takes you to the first one. The characters in the strip are characters in a RPG-like game like World of Warcraft, although that bit matters less and less as the strip goes on. It's *hysterical*.

And when you're at home, do be sure to watch the youtubiness I sent you. I was totally unaware this guy existed until I started jonesing for the movie "300." I searched him in youtube, watched that vid, and went into an endorphin fueled coma.

He looks like the love child of Russell Crowe and...someone else, but I'm not sure who. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I like his hair short better. Very handsome guy. I prefer the clips where he's not quite so uberbuff (yay, I made up a new word! No? Oh, well, then).

And OMG, he was the Phantom? I would never have recognized him (and it's the only movie I've ever seen him in). I LOVE the Phantom. So he can sing, too? Well. He's definitely got my favourite colouring, so he does. Don't know enough about him to drool, 'cause I'm one of THOSE people who has to have the whole shebang, looks, intellect, kindness, wit, yadda. Which is why I've been single so long, most likely, because that kind of thing comes directly out of my RL.

Anyway, he's going to be in Butterfly on a Wheel, which I'm going to see as soon as it comes out for the sole reason that it's got Nicholas Lea and Callum Keith Rennie in the cast. (CKR was originally offered the role of Alex Krycek, which I'm oh, so glad he declined, for a number of reasons).

* Not so much a shocker from me, but I like his hair shorter too (although not buzz short). Hair that's too thick usually look that good on a man.

* Uberbuff is a good word. And I'd take him any way I can get him. ;)

* I'll join you in line for "Butterfly On A Wheel." We can help each other walk out afterward because I'm none to sure my legs will be in any shape to support me. And if I lurch toward the screen and start clawing at it, just haul me back to my seat, okay?

* Anyone besides Nicholas Lea playing Krycek would've been a sin of the highest order.

* Like I said, I don't know much about Mr. Butler, but have since read that he studied law at Glasgow University, even becoming the president of the Law Society there (he did get his law degree). He played Ewan's part in the stage version of "Trainspotting." He's Scottish but of Irish descent (!!!!) So he's no dummy. Lots more info here. (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0124930/bio)

And I did find this, which underscores what looks to be a good sense of humor (which is equal to intelligence on my Man Grading Scale):

Okay, sure. :) Actually, we should plan on doing some kind of a meetup. I have two vacations in the works (although Celtic Colours is pretty much out this year, but I'll get to Cape Breton if it kills me), which doesn't leave a ton of time. Really, the only, only reason I want to see this movie is for CKR an NL, because I'm not so much a fan of current!Pierce Brosnan, and it's really not my kind of film (although I can really watch any genre of film if it's good). God, but give me Remington Steele any day. And OMG, do you remember this wonderful thing?

* Anyone besides Nicholas Lea playing Krycek would've been a sin of the highest order.

Amen, sister. Also, if CKR had taken on the role, he'd never have been Ray Kowalski, and that's an equally bad thing.

I like the video. The guy's got a great sense of humour, and he looks so, so, so much better in the black leather and black...everything else, than he does in the ponytail and diaper from whatever movie that was. I'm not faulting him for it, though. Every good-looking actor has his beefcake period, because fair or not, it's a way in:

Often there are giant phallic symbols disguised as power tools involved:

And sometimes they're even sweet little heartwarming movies, which Getting Married in Buffalo Jump certainly is. Even if the makeup/costuming people did commit a kind of sacrilege.

And yep, Gerry's a Celt, all right. And definitely of Irish descent. He's got the black Irish colouring. Scots don't have that in their ancestry, unless I'm mistaken. Also, you don't get a law degree unless you're a. smart or b. George W. Bush connected somehow. So the guy's intelligent, too. AND HE CAN SING. And he's a nice guy. Okay, I like him. :)

I actually like him more now that I've seen the interview than in the beefcake clips. The gorgeous accent doesn't hurt, either. I'm such a sucker for the voice. He can go on the list of "People I Want to Read to Me". Dude. Tony Blair is on that list. :)

What's it been - eight years now? Yeah, I think it's time. (I'm still bummed Toronto fell through.) Can't be too expensive a proposition though, as I am now an unemployed, starving wannabe author. But to meet up with you, I'd drop some dinero. Any ideas where a couple hot mamas can raise the roof?

I don't remember "The Manions of America" but Pierce looks edible in the photos. Was it a good show?

...he looks so, so, so much better in the black leather and black...everything else, than he does in the ponytail and diaper from whatever movie that was.

Heehee, I'm not sure, but I think he was playing a Samson-esque type character and I think those were meant to be the sexy version of today's boxers. But I thought they looked like a diaper too. I quite liked the ponytail though. And what man doesn't look good in a black leather jacket over a black tshirt? As for beefcake in general, you know my feeling on the matter. To quote the song in the beefcake vid, "Ooooh aaaahhh...." Those Paul pics, while obviously meant to manipulate a female audience, ummmm...work. At least on me.

He's got the black Irish colouring.
Is there a more attractive combination than black over blue on a pale field? If there is, I'm hard pressed to think of it.

He can go on the list of "People I Want to Read to Me".

What an awesome idea for a list! And Tony Blair isn't a stretch to believe. Who else is on it?

I'm going to have to make one of my own up. Gerry will be on it, of course, reading something like this. (http://www.amazon.com/Best-Womens-Erotica-2007/dp/1573442585/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/103-0470671-9692648?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1173147570&sr=1-1)

Mebbe Chicago? Hmm.

I am obviously much dorkier than you. I'd be embarrassed to have anyone read erotica to me. Okay, here's but a sampling of my ever-growing list, and an even smaller selection of what I'd like them to read..

Alan Rickman, who can read me this, for starters:

They that have power to hurt, and will do none,
That do not do the thing they most do show,
Who, moving others, are themselves as stone,
Unmoved, cold, and to temptation slow;
They rightly do inherit heaven's graces,
And husband nature's riches from expense;
They are the lords and owners of their faces,
Others, but stewards of their excellence.
The summer's flower is to the summer sweet,
Though to itself, it only live and die,
But if that flower with base infection meet,
The basest weed outbraves his dignity:
For sweetest things turn sourest by their deeds;
Lilies that fester, smell far worse than weeds.

Ewan McGregor - Annabel Lee

Liam Neeson - Easter, 1916, and it may just do me in.

Tony Blair - Anthem for Doomed Youth.

Paul Gross - In Flanders Fields. Also The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

James Earl Jones - Sea Fever.

There's more, and I haven't even got to the women. *g*. I'd love an entire entourage of people to read to me.

"Rich gives wax poor when givers prove unkind."

Lovely poem, by the by. Read by Mr. Rickman would be even lovlier, methinks.

OMG, for realzies? Picture this: There you are with (insert name here). You've just consumed a lightly satisfying meal. The room lit is by firelight, half a bottle of champagne is already gone, smooth jazz flows out the speakers. (Insert name here) peruses bookshelf, finds erotica, sits on opposite end of couch from you, swings legs up, entwines them with yours, choses story, and with gleam in eye, begins reading aloud. You're saying this would embarrass you??? Perhaps it's cuz hubby would never in a hundred million years do this, but I would max my entire family's credit cards to make this happen.

Liam Neeson - Easter, 1916, and it may just do me in.

Heaven and saints preserve us, yeeeeeesssssss. Your other choices are inspired as well, but this one gave me chills.

Nope. Not for me. I'd rather have (insert name here) read Shakespeare or Wilde or Trudeau than erotica. Probably because I don't like erotica unless it's within the context of a plot. Random porny stories are a bit like the French Rugby Team for me. Full of teh sex, but no romance and no connection. I like Romance, dammit. :)

Agreed. Which is why I generally stick to erotica written by women. There's "teh sex" but oft with romance and connection too. And usually lots more sensual than stories written by men.

And you know how I feel about Shakespeare. Any man on my list could have his pick of sonnets and I'd be goo on the floor. In fact, here is my own little gift to you (you've probably already seen it, but meh):

SK engenders affection like that, and now that I've had the opportunity to actually see him in person, I can see why. For a guy who has the adulation of the world, he's still completely real. And a giant dork, so I sort of identify with him. For the dork factor, not the adulation. I wouldn't want that kind of fame for anything.

Oh you should!! The episode itself is rather dodgy (one of the main male characters is accused of sexual-harrassment by an Indian girl who wants to debase herself or something) but Paul is just steaming and brilliantly shaggable in it.

As an interesting note - if you watch the first 2003 episode and then the 2005 episode, you will notice that they are completely different in tone, with the second episode being much more sexy and (trying to be) provocative. According to articles of that time, you can attribute that to Paul himself who apparently had lunch with the 11th Hour producer who was complaining about their dreadful ratings (150,000!) and Paul jokingly suggested that they needed Tits and Bums in there to get people to watch. So the producer went with it and they got an extra two years out of the show.

Oi now, don't be selfish. At least ask for polygamy to be legal. I'll settle for weekends and school vacations.

Seeing the 11th Hour ratings of that time (typically 150,000 which went up to something like 400,000 when Paul guest-starred) makes me realise how well H2O did in 2004 - 1.98 million viewers, which increased slightly on the second night.
