  • Mom update:

It looks like my mom is going to be discharged tomorrow. They did find the source of the bleeding when they did an endoscopy and they've already fixed it (I think they do something like cauterizing). She says she's feeling a lot better, her cardiologist says she's doing fine cardiac-wise, so all seems good right now. I'll be going home with her and either spending one or two nights.

  • [livejournal.com profile] dragonflymuse sent me this in e-mail. Consider it a meme:

    1. What time did you get up this morning?
Would you believe 12:45? And I went to bed at 11:30 pm last night. Woah.

    2. Diamonds or pearls?

    Malachite.

    3. What was the last film you saw at the cinema?

  • Jim Flaherty speaking French is kind of like what that sound that happens when you try to start the car while it's already running.

  • [livejournal.com profile] h20_wtf is the best comm ever. Geeking out is not only allowed, it's encouraged. *wins*

I've joined [livejournal.com profile] h20_wtf (and thanks for inadvertently reminding me to do that), but I think I'm going to have to watch H20 yet again before I feel qualified to comment. What a hardship. *g* Political geekery ftw!

Oh, I'm definitely going to have to watch it again. I've made a few comments on the comm, and none of them have have much to do with the actual program.

Was going to add an LOL here, until I realized...YOU WATCHED THE FEDERAL BUDGET SPEECH!?! Holy crap. That is a higher level of geekdom than I can ever hope to attain. ;P

OTOH I watched the Plame hearing, so maybe we should trade places? *g*

I joined h20 because of the geeking out, but I suppose it'd be better if I'd seen the movie. Must check it out.

I need a good geek icon.

I would have watched the Plame hearing if I could have found it online. Such is life without television reception. I mostly watched the budget speech because I wanted to see if there actually might be an election coming from it. I wasn't really surprised that there isn't. Wasn't? I can't do grammar first thing in the morning. :)

I wish the US had a Parliamentary government, because Dubya would have been out of office a long time ago if we did. There have been more opportunities for no-confidence votes than I can count. *counts days until Nov. 2008*

H20 is one of the most convoluted movies I've ever seen. It also pushes pretty much all of my geek buttons, because I don't understand a lot of it, and I want to. It's like the Canadian All the President's Men, only not.

So far the comm's exactly like I hope it keeps on being, which is a lot of geekery and a minimum of fangirling. I mean, if I want pretty, I can just watch Men With Brooms and not have work nearly as hard. Well, except that I don't pretend to understand curling, either. Gimme a good baseball movie, any day.

Thanks for the amazing visual - Dubya at Question Period. He wouldn't last the afternoon. He'd say "is our children learning" and they'd be jeering him, howling with laughter and pelting him with spitballs. OK, not the spitballs. But they really do go for the jugular. It helps to have some rudimentary language skills, at least.

Besides, we don't have a Fox News here yet, so the press might even ASK HIM DIFFICULT QUESTIONS! *gulp*

;)

*tries to imagine what a geek icon would look like*

I'm going to find you one.

Thanks for the amazing visual - Dubya at Question Period.

I love Question Period, from what I've seen of it. Congress is much more sedate, it's not even funny. And even if it were, nobody would laugh much.

Today there was actual applause when Senator Barbara Boxer told Senator James Inhofe basically to shut up, he's not chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee anymore. I was shocked.

Another visual is what Rick Mercer would say about Dubya at Question Period, and which OMG, seriously wants to become a political!crackfic plot bunny, and I don't really know how I feel about that.

- Great to hear that your Mom is better - \o/.

- Do never ever tell anybody your full name! Wizards can do nasty things with such kind of information.

- [livejournal.com profile] h2o_wtf - it's greatness, isn't it? Paul would so love it ::grins::. I picture him reading our comments, scratching his head because he himself doesn't even know what's going on.

-Thanks, lovey. :)

-YOU know my full name. Should I be worried?

-If the comm stays as cerebral as it has so far, he'd like it. Not that it's not fine to descend into fangirldom once in a while, but so far, I like the way it's going.

I joined the comm, but I haven't watched the dvd yet. I want to try and understand it as I watch it, though apparently it's impossible to do :)

I've only seen it once, and I have the computer file :/ I ordered the DVD today, since it was only six-ish bucks. That way I can do a group thing without the whole not-full-screen thing.

In other news, OMG, SPIROGRAPH!!! *loves pretty, circly pictures*

In still more news, weird, mystical happenstances can go straight to hell. :)
