From [livejournal.com profile] birth_is_normal. Gods, this is gorgeous. And triumphant and inspiring and all those good words:

In other news, I think my writers' block is going away! \0

So, to give it a push,

Name a character and I'll tell you three (or more) facts about them from my own personal pseudocanon.

Also, if anyone has any ABBA, could you share? I'd love to hear me some ABBA (shut up), and I don't want to open my computer-sucking file-getting program to get it.

Oh, I love ABBA and if I would been on my own computer I would send you lots of it but I'm in the Yukon and ... you know ::smiles::

It must be tough, being in one of the loveliest spots in the universe with no ABBA. :)

You don't need to send me music, dear, just pictures of Whitehorse.

I know it's really lovely and uplifting, but all I could think was "another reason I don't have kids." But I realize that wasn't the kind of reaction you wanted!
Anyway...
Are you a midwife? I was trying to remember. Somebody on my flist is.

I'm not a midwife. I am a lay doula, and midwifery isn't out of the question eventually. I think I'm going to get my doula certification first, though.

People who don't want kids shouldn't have kids. I have no problem with your reaction. The cool thing about this is that she had three Caesarians and then a VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Caesarian) at home. Docs'll try to tell women that this isn't possible. They lie a lot. :/

Throw 'em at me. I have NO ABBA on this computer. I had so much on my old one. It's a tragedy.

Would you like the broadway cast album of "Mama Mia"? If so, I can rip the CD and pass it along. Hugs,

Your loving bro-in-law

My mom had natural, csection, natural, csection, natural in the late 50's and sixties. You know why? She SMOKED and the ones that came out naturally were so damn small they slipped out before they had time to c-section her. Three sibs are fair skinned and one is dark like me. I was completley convinced, as a child, that my brother and I were dark from the c-section.
That is a nice video but I am not at all behind people having four kids. That makes the ecologist in me very sad. JMHO.

I never had a C-section, and only in my last pregnancy did I have (IMO unnecessary) ultrasounds. All my babies were over nine pounds except the first. My sister was a vaginal breech, 8 pounds nine ounces, and she had an eleven-pounder at home with no tearing. I'd brag about our family's big pelvises, but I think that most women can push out babies bigger than their doctors want them to believe. I'm pretty much a cynic when it comes to obstetricians.

I confess, I'm one of those people. I've tried to raise all four of mine to be aware of the environment and their impact on it. It appears to have worked, since they sometimes bug me about not being green enough, especially [livejournal.com profile] mr_t00by (*points to icon*), who sometimes gets downright anal about it. He's right most of the time, too.

Sadly I come from a large family - between 5 and 7 kids, depending on how you count it (mulitple marriages). My parents instilled not such good values in most of us - 2 homeless meth-heads - one clean for now, 2 or three alcoholics and none besides one sister and myself who actually are aware or care about what's going on the world. And of course I am the only one who even has the good taste to know about fan fiction and Paul Gross. I like to say the DNA stops here!

I work on a detox unit, so I see a lot of that. It's very sad. *crosses fingers for your family*

I'm really glad my kids turned out so well. I'd like to take all the credit, but basically all I did was let them use their brains instead of trying to think for them. Nature and nurture, I dunno. I guess I did something right, but a lot of it was them.

And of course I am the only one who even has the good taste to know about fan fiction and Paul Gross.

Clearly you're the prodigy in the group. :)

*preens self* I kinda agree! hee!
I actually gave up on them a long time ago - they can walk their own roads and I do wish them luck.
