I come seeking knowledge.

What continues to yank your chain about Canada? Not that it's a bad place, mind you. But, as you know, I've spent a bit of time there recently, and living so close to it, I've spent time there periodically throughout my life. I've known a good number of Canadians. Yes, they were hockey players for the most part, but the overall number of hockey players are people too. I am related to God knows how many people in Sarnia and Kincardine, Ontario (a cousin was once mayor of the latter). So. Detail the fascination because, outside of Stratford, I don't see it. Toronto impressed me less on the recent trip than it ever has and left me with zero desire to ever go back. I'm sure centra and western Canada are beautiful and I've heard nothing but praise for Montreal and I know there is Cape Breton. I'm sure it's lovely and I'm sure I'd love it, but so far as I can see, your Canadalove goes beyond going on the Grand Tour. Why the fascination? Cite specific reasons because your fascination fascinates and perplexes me.

(And this is not a slam on Canada. I'm sure it's a worthy subject of obsession - not that you're obsessed. I just don't get what hooked you and keeps you hooked.)

Really? :D I don't know any hockey players, so I'll have to take that on faith.

So. Detail the fascination because, outside of Stratford, I don't see it.

It's a combo of Cape Breton, Ottawa, politics, history, media, and general social values. Oh, and music, especially East Coast traditional stuff. Which brings it all back to Cape Breton again (Which reminds me OMG I SAW NATALIE MACMASTER IN CONCERT LAST NIGHT). I also am a giant giant dork, remember? Ireland has the same affect politics- and music-wise, but it's not like I can actually GO there, y'know?

Toronto impressed me less on the recent trip than it ever has and left me with zero desire to ever go back.

I was less than impressed myself, but I also was less than impressed with New York. I guess I can't say I don't like either city, because I haven't seen enough to say. Basically it's just a matter of not liking cities. Well, except Boston. And Ottawa. The ROM was cool, except for the alien creature trying to consume it.

That thing was an affront to the sense of sight.

Oh, and btw, that film festival looks awesome. *is jealous*

Hmm. Maybe.

*consults decidedly nonMagic Wallet*

Hmm. Not a chance in hell.

But thanks for the invite.

Off topic, but must share. If God allows us to chose the method by which we go to Heaven, I think I shall chose an elevator peopled thus:

When Worlds Collide. Good lord. *thudthudthudthudthud*

Oh oh. The logo of the Ontario Nurses Association (my employer) is in magenta. How the heck are you going to print our logo?

Dude. I haven't even figured out how Rick Mercer thinks I could be Liberal Leader since I'm not even Canadian. He'd have to wait three years, at least, which would likely be okay since Stéphane Dion might be a little miffed at some upstart from the States horning in on his job.

Ironically, our Red and Blue are opposite to yours. Conservatives are Red, liberals-with-a-small-l are Blue. Which would mean that I have magenta ink in abundance.

Also, how did I miss that you are a nurse?

Actually I am not a nurse but I work for their union. Which is also why I am doing my Masters degree in Industrial Relations.
And quite a ball game between our Jays and your Sox last night. Nothing like scoring 10 runs and losing. Ouch.

I'm thinking that this is an interesting job. I may be completely wrong. CPAs/Chartered accountants think they have an interesting job, to. To me accounting is right up with watching paint dry or playing golf. Union work reminds me of Pete Seeger. I tend to judge things way too emotionally. :)

I saw a little of the last part of the game (I had to go back to work before the end, alas). As much as I love it when my Sox win, it's not as much fun when we do it via stampede. Your Jays are growing on me, as they remind me of the Sox when they were young and often struggling (now they're old and often struggling but that's another matter entirely). When the Jays are in the Series next I will cheer them on. (unless they're playing the Mets or the Cubs. Darn my hierarchical baseball fannishness}.

Er. That would be "too". And to think I get on other people for their grammar and spelling. :/

Union work is very interesting, and I like to think we do good work for our members.
I am also happy to accept the association with Mr. Seeger. Must be why I play the acoustic guitar!
And we will be happy to have you cheer for the Jays in the next world series, providing of course that they are not up against one of your other teams.
Off to see Genesis in concert tonight. Pray it does not rain as we are outdoors.
