  • No g-word!baby yet. I'll let y'all know as soon as I can when s/he finally arrives. *SO EXCITED*

  • For us politics junkies, it's a wonderful time to be a dork. *crosses fingers for Australia and Canada* And yay, The Dalai Lama! I adore him even if the Chinese don't want me to.

  • Slept a good part of the day yesterday because of my evening-into-night double shift on Sunday. This is why I didn't get a chance to officially wish [livejournal.com profile] patchfire a happy birthday. I'm sure she knows I was thinking of her anyway, but I wanted to mention it here nonetheless. Because she's pushing thirty now, and you know how cranky some elderly people can get (And if she's elderly, I'm DEAD.) *hugs*

  • Speaking of [livejournal.com profile] patchfire, she and I both have decided that we need to learn to vid ASAP. So, what do you think, darling, maybe we could make up some kind of pseudocurriculum and learn it together that way?

  • Speaking of vidding (don't you love how all this randomness is almost bordering on the not!random? Go segues!), I've decided that since I only have a thousand other things to do, I'd do a post of some of my favourite vids. I'll probably do the non-dS vids first, and then do another post with just dS vids. And now you know. *g*

  • I did get a big chunk of my room cleaned last night. Another reason I didn't make a LJ post. If [livejournal.com profile] patchfire wasn't out celebrating being almost thirty she would have wanted to chat, and since she's too pretty to turn down I'd have stayed up chatting and not cleaning. Which would have been more fun, but not very productive. *sigh*

  • del.icio.us is fun and addictive and a huge time waster. I'm trying to get all my unbundled tags bundled and it's the main reason I stayed up too late last night.

  • Still on S5 of The Sopranos. I'm still loving the show, but I didn't appreciate the scene in 5x06 that as far as I'm concerned was bloody violence for the sake of bloody violence without really adding to the plot. I mean, yeah, what happened to the character throughout the whole episode sends his life into a tailspin but the violent act wasn't necessary because we already KNEW his situation was tanking and fast. It's a good show, it doesn't need gratuitous scenes like that. No love, Sopranos, no love.

  • Stephen Colbert on All Things Considered. Really. Listen to this interview. YOU WILL NOT BE SORRY, I PROMISE YOU.

Example of why this man is not only an utter genius, but also the Left's best stealth weapon: "I'm on record as saying that reality has a well-known liberal bias." I can't wait to read his book.I want to marry him and have his little stealth genius babies.

  • If the sky doesn't fall (and maybe even if it does)[livejournal.com profile] peacey and I will be going back to Stratford in 2008 for Hamlet. Believe it or not, I've never seen this play all the way through, although I'm sure I've seen the whole thing in bits and pieces. I'm looking forward to it big time, because, Yay, Stratford!

It's a real shame my Wayback Machine is imaginary (and therefore nonfunctional) because then I could see this production.

  • [livejournal.com profile] sam80853, I'm plugging away at your beta. Fantastic idea for a fic, btw. Be prepared to be overwhelmed (or is that overcome) by the sheer wordiness of my beta skillz. You might just hate me forever for being OMG SO WORDY. *g*

I love the Dalai Lama - I don't care if anyone disapproves or not. Right?

I'm so glad I got to hear him speak several years ago - it is definitely a highlight!

I highly recommend it. I was openly crying while he spoke - his spirit is so strong and loving. I was lucky that where I was working at that time had free tickets to see him. I snapped that up fast!

The Dalai Lama! I adore him even if the Chinese don't want me to.

I love him for so many reasons, one of which is because China doesn't want me to.

If the sky doesn't fall (and maybe even if it does)peacey and I will be going back to Stratford again in 2008 for Hamlet.

If I may be allowed a moment of vulgarity, fuck the sky. It's going to take a hellalot more than that to keep me from The Dane. And because you only mention The Dane, does that mean I'm seeing R&J and The Trojan Women (and possibly Love's Labors Lost) all by my lonesome? Must know by December 1, dahlink! Oh! It appears that Cher is not going to Hawaii, so she'll likely be joining us. AND just FYI, if I can get good seats, I'm shooting for July 22, 23, 24. The lineup is particularly pleasing then.

Believe it or not, I've never seen this play all the way through...

Does this mean you've yet to watch the Branagh DVD I sent you...let's see...that would it be...monthsandmonths ago? Good GAWD, woman, do yourself a favor. Sit down and experience the splendor.

Re: del.icio.us . . . one of these days I am going to add ratings to all the stories I've linked. But there are like 530! *lazy*

Heehee, me too.

I dunno yet. I'll know before Dec. 1, though. It's all dependent on money.

I'm shooting for July 22, 23, 24. The lineup is particularly pleasing then.

Is the lineup horrific either a couple of days before or after July 1 or thereabouts? If so, that's fine, but if I possibly could I'd love to be in Ottawa the area for Canada Day.

Does this mean you've yet to watch the Branagh DVD I sent you...let's see...that would it be...monthsandmonths ago?

Dude. I haven't watched anything anyone sent me because I haven't hooked the telly up. And now, of course, I want to see the play in person before I see it as a film.

Also, you may be interested in seeing this, and I might just be able to help you get the proper materials. :) I haven't seen it either, but I've heard it's very good.

The Independence Day-ish lineup isn't horrific, but it's not as good as later in July and I'd wager those tickets will go fast to the Festival members (aka donors). As for days before, the lineup doesn't work.

As for one-man Hamlet shows, I generally am not a fan, though I appreciate that you thought of me.

And dude. You can watch the DVD's on your computer (providing you have a DVD drive).

Reports of my nearness to thirty are greatly exaggerated. And I'm still younger than every person with which I graduated from high school!

We should definitely teach ourselves. Though I suspect we'll be using different programs, you Windows user you.

It's not a film of the play, it's a documentary about the actor's journey to play it. There's a lot about the play itself and previous actors who have played Hamlet.

I'm just working through all my 'inread' posted stories there which are quite a lot, writing feedback to people who are probably wondering that they get feeback now after three month or something. Anyway, I'm hopefully up to date soon but fandom never sleeps and ... ::sighs::
