Do any of you know anything about creating a LJ layout?! I'm sick of all the black, and I'd really love a background picture, yadda yadda..

I'm trying to make my own at the moment - if I'm successful, I'll tell you how to do it. :) It actually looks pretty straight forward, just like HTML with a couple of things changed.

I've changed mine about half a dozen times. You can see what I'm currently using, and what my last one was when I was still going by mystery_guest. I'd be happy to help you out, since I love playing around with it, but now I like my layout so won't be changing it for a while.

You want this FAQ section (http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqcat=customize), which explains all about cutomization, including how to insert a background picture. Also, if you just want to insert a few links into your layout, since you have a paid account, you can click "edit style" and turn your current look into a style, which you can then edit the source of however you care to. And if you want something fancy, you should ask eva_c, who made her own layout, and eilanhp's old layout, and cedarlibrarian's layout, and kokopoko's layout, and she's really quite a genius.

I am lazy so I gacked a style from ibdreamy.com - just plug in the style number into the "create a style" area, and mess with the html a bit, and there you have it. It's also where I got the style for the SU community page and Hermione and Harry's journals ;)
