SRSLY, it demanded sharing. It's from 1957, the year [livejournal.com profile] songdog was born. It's like another PLANET or something.

"Down in the States" she says with her inexplicable accent. Seriously, she sounds American. That's from CBC?

ION: NIPPY CHEESE. Hee.

Now I want pizza.

She sounds Canadian to me (the way she says "popular" for one thing--the only USaires who come even close to saying it that way are the Bostonians, and we don't say anything else the way she does), except with a sort of Southern-US bent to it (which actually seems kind of put-on). Maybe she's an immigrant from Down In the States?

Yeah, it's 1957!CBC, from their Archives.

ETA: What's 'ION'?

That's the thing... she's doing some kind of a Southern accent there, either purposely or not. But she sounds way, way off to me.

ION = In Other News.

Oh, exotic foreign cuisine! Oregano, good heavens. I can't even figure out what she means by nippy cheese. Is that some 50s slang?

I had my first pizza-pie when I was eight or so, into the 70's. We were not a fast food family.

Never saw the inside of a McDonalds until I was 14. My kids have led a somewhat different life. Evan was gumming french fries at 9 months old ;)

I was a little girl when I saw my first McDonalds (a drive-up!). I vaguely remember a hamburger. Pizza, though, we did all the way through high school, and I remember English Muffin pizzas in junior high.
