Someone Saved my Life Tonight came on the PA music at the grocery store today. I found out two things:

1) I'm over the hill, d00d, and

2) People look at you funny when you sing with the music at the grocery store.

Re: 1) I don't know about the US, but in Britain that means you're old. You aren't old! You're as young as the characters you slash!!!

Heh. Sometimes I feel like I should be slashing Dumbledore.

Well, okay, maybe I'm not quite that old.

McGonagall/Hooch?

Bwah!

Two things:

Number one: no way are you old. Cuz if you're old then I'm old and I refuse to admit to my oldness.

Number two: ever since I saw your message last week abotu Elton and Bernie I've been listening to a lot more classic Elton than I have in a long time so .. thank you. :D Because one can never have too much classic Elton ...

t00bs off humming Tonight ... do we have to fight again ... <--- I always thought that'd make a great H/D song ...

Y'know, I used to think that Tonight was H/D, too...until I realised it was Sirius/Remus. Eh, could be either, but I keep thinking S/R.

And there's nothing like Classic!Elton and Bernie. Did you know that Bernie used to go on tour with them because Elton considered Bernie's words as vital as his music and performances, and he wanted the audiences to know it.[/trivia]

Elton and Bernie may never have been EltonandBernie, but they had this closeness I can only dream about in a friendship. It was closeness of DracoTrilogy!Magnitude. *g*

Bernie was actually at the show I saw Elton at here a few years ago. It was interesting to see how many people in the audience knew who he was. Elton made a big deal about how Bernie deserved just as much credit as he did.

Never thought about Tonight being Remus/Sirius before! Hmmmm, that could work too. *grins* It's such a great song ...

:D

Yep. From what I've read, it's always been like that.

d00d. I know. I do that all the time. Usually singing to Gillian. People give me the weirdest looks.

I will *never* forget the time I heard the Muzak version of Alice Cooper's "School's Out" over the PA of my small, local grocery store in my hometown...followed by Van Halen's "Hot for Teacher." I kid you not. Someone in Bell's had a sense of humor...and access to some great karaoke tapes (yes, this was pre-CD).

Fortunately, this wasn't Muzak, it was Captain Fantastic himself. As the hymn goes, how could I keep from singing?

Am now going to alarm you by drive-by-posting.

Possibly one of the most delightful moments of my life was when Sad Songs Say So Much came on the PA at the grocery store and everywhere I looked, people were singing and dancing. It was bizarre. Men, kids, me - all getting down with Elton. It made me believe life really can be like a musical! Whee! ~Kate

Not alarmed at all!

I love it that my kids know Benny and the Jets. One world, one love, all that crap. Yep.

Oohhhhh. [smacks head] That's why they're looking at me!

*grin* Did you know that only 2% of the population walks around singing to themself? (dunno if they count super market music in that survey.) I love being unique. We're unique just like everyone else.

I sing to myself all the time. In stores, in restaurants. All good.
