I wonder if the President-elect would consider changing the National Anthem to this:

Yes, I know it's a British song, but um. So is the current one. Or Irish. Or something. The tune anyway. And it's hard to sing. Um.

Anyway, if he decides to do this, a decades-long dream of mine will be realised. I mean, can you imagine this being sung en masse at a baseball game?

I do not know. But I don't know what a rampart is, either, and that's a word in our current national anthem.

Isn't a rampart like a big ramp? Like a bank of earth you get on one side of a ditch? Or is it castle related?

Erm...I don't know either.

Wikipedia says it's a "defensive embankment". Well, okay, that makes sense.

And who says you can't learn anything from the interwebz (probably nobody, at this point, but anyway).

Ah my gut thought was nearly right.

Ah but 'is what you learn accurate?' is what a lot of people ask.

Some things are accurate, i.e.:

George Bush is a moron. Alaska is melting. Canada is really big. Paul Gross is ridiculously pretty.

German drinking song, so I have heard. Impossible to sing, but I still like it.

Good old Anacreon. I wonder what he knew about ramparts.

See, I clicked on this having no idea what to expect. And what did I get?! I got a video of one of my favorite songs by a band that I adore (that I've even seen some of them live, cause I saw his band after this one).

I have known all the words to this song for as far back as I can remember. I don't know that I've ever gotten our National Anthem's lyrics correct. So it sure wins on that front.

(Manfred Mann so rocks my world) ;-)

Manfred Mann even covered Dylan right. They rock.

Yup, they so did. In fact, when I was doing my music meme where I was picking the songs, I had a hard time picking a Manfred Mann song, cause several of the ones I had access to were Dylan covers. They are soooo good, but then people would have guessed Dylan, instead. (I wound up picking a cover anyway, and no one knew that it was Manfred Mann.)

Love them so much.
