1. Provided you can somehow access the internet, and there is a grocery store and handyman within 20 miles, there is no such thing as too remote.

2. Everything pink would have to go. Baby blue rooms repainted, baby blue paint stripped from ceiling beams, and said beams stained walnut.

I'm sure there are all of those things, but I'd have to import my entire family, and they just wouldn't go. ;) Also? Waaay too much snow and cold and things. But seriously, if I could afford it, this is where I'd want a summer house. Says me who doesn't really even have a winter one.

I suspect I'd get homesick--not for New England as much as for my family. It's a long drive from here to there. And then there's all the emigration issues and, um. *sigh*

If I were ever to move to Canada, it'd be somewhere closer. And then I could summer in Cape Breton. :)

Dude, when I was up there it was just ridiculous the prices - there was something like a 10-acre piece with a creek and a house for $40K Canadian. But of course, there is virtually no economy there, so...

And would it really get too cold? Wouldn't the ocean help mitigate that? Or is that just a West Coast thing?

Yeah, I've seen deals like that (because apparently surfing Cape Breton real estate listings is a hobby of mine *g*).

I dunno. I've been there twice at Christmastime, and there was ice floating in the North Atlantic. And it was pretty darn cold and it snowed like all the time. Really really pretty, though.
