Not surprised. Unfortunately. I am officially cynical now whenever I hear there might be hope in Northern Ireland. Too many stubborn people on either side of the equation unwilling to bend. Makes me quite angry at both sides, actually. Stupid, stupid, bickering, petty people.
It's like two brothers fighting, really. That's what they are, symbolically, the same blood runs through both sides.
There are so many parallels to Arab-Israeli stuff here it's mind-blowing. Neither group looks like it's going to get itself together any time soon. The Irish looked like they were trying for a while. I mean, to hear the leader of Sinn Fein say he wanted a gun-free Ireland? It's a big step just to say that if you're Gerry Adams.
