In other news, it took the death of singer Elliot Smith for me to discover a.) that he even existed, and b.) that he made some very, very lovely music. It's sad that his death is what introduced me to his music.

Yeah, I also hadn't heard of Elliot Smith until lallumeur posted about his death. Now I realize I've heard his music in movies, and will have to investigate further when finances allow. It's sad to discover people through their obits.
