I really agree. We could chalk it up to her being an old-fashioned "old lady" if we were inclined to, but...er...we're not, are we? I've admired her since an interview (maybe with Larry King?) I saw after George HW, but before George W. She spoke her own. She's her own person, kind, but blunt, and not afraid to disagree with the PTB, even if they are her husband and/or son. So I'm bumfuzzled by her ostrichlike response. A strike on an otherwise classy lady.

Speaking of class, how about Essie Mae, Strom Thurmond's daughter? You go, girl. She elevates her father one level out of his Pit Of Eternity for his kind and relatively normal relationship with her, considering the flavor of the times.

I can understand the sentiment, maybe, about not wanting to have to worry about it because it's hard to think about and worrying doesn't help anything, but yeah, the way she put it it pretty callous. I mean, "why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?" Did she really have to phrase it that way?
