Thanks (I think) to [livejournal.com profile] littlealex for the SCARYINFOI'MGONNADIEOMGOMG educational information.

Also, Tori is following me around.

It must be made of money. Aussie Cheese is Made of Money!

Now I can say to my kids, "Do I look like I'm made of Aussie cheese?"

I think Gillian thinks that all Aussies have pet kangaroos and koalas.

Then again, one never knows. They just might.

They can be, and they make weird sounds too. Really angry sounds.

But they're a protected species, you can't own them. Kangaroos, however, are not protected. Unsurprisingly, most city people don't own kangaroos, and I'm sure the farmers just think they're pests. More people eat kangaroo than have them as pets (which is to say, very few anyway).

I just don't think I'll ever let [livejournal.com profile] littlealex live it down. *snicker*

I also want to see it. I have a visual in my head, and I wonder how close I am. What colour is it? What happens if it sits out in the sun and it melts? Can you use it in liquid form? And what about people who are allergic to some polymers? It gets scarier and scarier.

Five dollars are pink/purple, Tens are blue with a bit of green, Twenties are red, Fifties are yellow, and Hundreds are green.

It doesn't melt.

There is no liquid money, only plastic.

I don't know about them but I guess they're screwed. Or they'd have to wear gloves or something. I'm sure the inventors of the money went through and thought about it all.

Apparently Oz!Plastic is somehow Different from other Plastic (just like their calcium-free cheese).

Hell, I had uniform skirts made out of polyester that would melt if you sat on the radiator long enough. Plastic melts. 'Nuff said.

It might melt, but it wouldn't melt in the sun. Unless you're doing something really stupid to your money, it won't melt.

How is it bad for the environment? You're not going to throw out your money, are you? It doesn't need to decompose. You keep it around in your wallet. And it doesn't tear. Because it's plastic!

Making it is bad for the environment, recycling it is bad for the environment - the same money isn't going to be in circulation forever, is it?

They recycle the money once they're done with it, and it gets made into things like compost bins, rubbish bins, plumbing fittings, you name it. I don't see how recycling it could be bad for the environment...

It's the manufacturing of the new articles. The melting down of plastics releases chemicals into the environment that contribute to the greenhouse effect.

They recycle the waste from producing the notes, as well. Make that into other plastic things, too. Found here.

Now I'm going to work. To handle lots and lots of plastic money. Bwah!
