I should investigate this, just to see if

I had no idea there were places in North America where you could buy more than an acre of land and a large house for that kind of price. I don't think you could buy 1000 sq ft condo anywhere near where I live for that.

Cape Breton's unique, all right. For lots of lovely reasons. The cold and the distance from everything else are the big problem factors, other than that, it's all golden.
