P.S. You might be able to redeem yourself here by passing a similar resolution for every other faith in the world, and their holy days, and also for atheists.

Call me jaded, but the only fervor behind this bill was that of earning points with the voters back home - voters whose intelligence these Congressmen apparently have little, if any, respect for.

Oh, I think you're right. The problem for me is that it makes Americans look like exclusionary bigots. And for the most part, American people aren't like that. I'm also fiercely defensive of the First Amendment and get testy when it's trifled with like that.
